Man Docked for Rapping his Neighbour’s Daughter

Joshua Omotayo, 23 year old, yesterday appeared before an Ikeja Chief Magistrate’s’ Court, Lagos, Nigeria for allegedly raping his neighbour’s daughter.

Joshua Omotayo, who resides at Odinile Street, Bariga, Lagos, is facing a charge rape.

Insp. Simeon Inuoha (The Police Prosecutor), told court that the accused committed the offence in December 2016 at his residence by calling the 13-year-old girl into his room on the pretext of sending her on an errand.

He said, “The accused shut the door on the girl who had just got back from school and raped her.

“He damaged her school bag and tore her text book before he raped her.”

He said that the victim was rescued by some neighbours, who heard her cries.

The offences contravened Section 259 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The accused (Joshua Omotayo), however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs B.O. Osunsanmi, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

Osunsanmi adjourned the case until April 31 for mention.
